The movie Mirzapur is rolling with the momentum of advance booking prior to its release in theatres on September 4, 2026. The Mirzapur franchise has been very popular and the big-screen adaptation has garnered a lot of interest from audiences and early ticket sales suggest it will have a good opening. Starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu, the movie will be released in Hindi and Telugu and has an A certificate.
The pre-sale started on August 31 and it was for several days prior to the release. On August 31, the film had grossed about ₹79.9 lakh through opening-day advance sales with more than 24,000 tickets sold. The figures then went up with a Pinkvilla report on September 2 indicating that the movie had grossed approximately 55,000 tickets through national chains like PVR INOX and Cinepolis. The report also had a projection that the national chain deals will close in 1 lakh to 1.25 lakh.
The trend in booking is also indicating good demand for a number of key markets. The National Capital Region was among the top regions, followed by Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata, according to advance booking stats reported by Sacnilk. The occupancy data from Hyderabad were exceptionally high while the NCR had a huge number of shows and a few shows were already filling up quickly. The booking response is interesting as Mirzapur: The Movie is making the switch from a wildly successful streaming franchise to the big screen and is coming out for the first time on the big screen, which makes the opening weekend critical for understanding the movie’s ability to resonate with the audiences in the theaters.
It’s not only ticket prices, either; the ones have also caught a lot of attention, especially in high-demand areas. There have been allegations that there are regular shows in various cities available at a starting price of around ₹149, while in Noida, some expensive tickets have been sold for about ₹1,800. The early response to tickets has been positive, even with the huge price difference. The film is expected to garner a net collection of ₹15-20 crores in India on opening day and if the film starts to book well, it could go beyond this range. The figures are estimated box-office takings, not actual takings.
The countdown has been turned to the final day of its September 4 theatrical release and it is now a matter of how much further advance bookings will increase before the first screenings. A few single screen cinemas were also said to be in the process of rescheduling their screen bookings as they awaited the release of other screens due to “show-sharing” concerns, which could lead to the final picture being different from initial advance sales. The initial reactions are good overall and it should spell out the performance of the film at its opening day, to see if the behemoth OTT fanbase can be converted to the theatrical market.
