Director S.S. Rajamouli, who gave the world the huge hit RRR film, has shared a brand new look at his next big film Varanasi and this time it’s all about Priyanka Chopra. Two fresh pictures of her playing the character Mandakini came out on Saturday, July 18, which happens to be her birthday and they have already started doing rounds online. The photos show her in a style that matches the film’s action-packed feel, and they come right after fans got their first glimpse of co-stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, who had already made a lot of noise.
Varanasi is being called a big action adventure that moves across thousands of years and takes viewers to places like Antarctica, Africa and of course, the holy city of Varanasi in India. Mahesh Babu plays a strong warrior named Rudhra, Prithviraj Sukumaran takes on the role of a villain called Kumbha who cannot walk and uses a wheelchair and Chopra’s character Mandakini is said to be a mystery figure tied deep into the story. This film also brings Chopra back to Indian movies after many years of working mostly in Hollywood, and she has said before that Rajamouli keeps full control over everything happening on his sets.
People are also talking a lot about how big this film looks on screen, since it uses a new kind of IMAX camera technology made just for this movie, taking things even further than what Rajamouli did in Baahubali and RRR. Composer MM Keeravani, who won an Oscar with Rajamouli for the song Naatu Naatu, is working on the music again, which is another reason fans are excited to see what this team comes up with next.
The movie is said to have one of the biggest budgets ever for an Indian film, which shows just how huge this project really is. Varanasi is set to hit theatres everywhere on April 7, 2027, giving the team enough time to finish all the heavy visual effects work. Until then, these new pictures of Chopra are keeping the excitement alive for a film that has been in the making for many years.
