Batwara 1947 Box Office Collection: Day 1 & Day 2 India Net Earnings

Batwara 1947 released in theatres on August 14 with Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in the lead and Rajkumar Santoshi in the director’s chair. The Partition drama was thrust into an already busy weekend, smacking straight into Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2. Although the film struggled to get going at the ticket booth, advance bookings provided a positive sign, and there was significant interest in pre-release sales of tickets.

The film is helmed by Aamir Khan Productions and stars Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol in pivotal roles, which is based on Partition era and is being marketed to audiences. Batwara 1947 Movie Day 2 Box Office Collection

Day 2 was a much needed break for Batwara ’47. The movie opened at ₹6.8 crore net on Day 1, but got going once the Independence Day holiday began, grossing almost 70% more on Day 2 of its release with net figures of ₹11.5 crore.

In its first two days, the movie played in approximately 15,278 screens, making its India net collection tally at ₹18.4 crore, according to film tracking site Sacnilk. That was a healthy comeback, especially for a movie that was as much about emotion than the action-packed blockbuster Deol’s Sunny fans typically demand from him.
This has seemed to spread via word of mouth. The film was a polarising experience for critics and many applauded its message on communal harmony and that may have been enough to push more people into theatres over the holiday weekend. Nevertheless, Batwara 1947 is still the underdog in the battle against Awarapan 2 on the same release date, as it is the lower earner.

Bear in mind, these are real and continuing numbers.
