1. Hera Pheri (2000)

Paresh Rawal as Baburao is the soul of this film. His dialogues are still used in memes and everyday conversations today. He somehow gets admission into a medical college where the dean is the same doctor who insulted his father. The dean is played by Boman Irani, and he is brilliant as the strict, no nonsense professor who hates Munna from day one.
Munna knows nothing about medicine. He cannot even spell half the terms. But he has something that the other doctors in the film have forgotten. He genuinely cares about people. His “Jadoo Ki Jhappi” or magical hug becomes his signature treatment. Patients love him because he treats them like human beings, not like files.
Arshad Warsi as Circuit, Munna’s loyal sidekick, is the perfect partner. Their scenes together are some of the funniest moments in Bollywood history. The film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film and ran in theaters for twenty-five weeks. That does not happen anymore. 5. Gol Maal (1979)

He only hires people who do not drink, smoke, watch sports, or listen to music. He also believes that a man with a mustache is more honest than a clean-shaven man. So Ramprasad, who actually loves sports and music, lies through his teeth to get the job. He says he is a simple, serious man who only cares about work.
The trouble starts when Bhawani Shankar spots Ramprasad at a hockey match. To save his job, Ramprasad quickly makes up another lie. He says the man at the match was his twin brother, who is the exact opposite of him. Now Ramprasad has to live a double life. On some days he is the serious employee with a mustache. On other days he is the fun loving twin without a mustache.
The comedy here comes entirely from the situations and the writing. There is no vulgar humor, no slapstick falling around, just pure wit and perfect timing. Utpal Dutt as the loud and dramatic boss and Amol Palekar as the nervous employee create magic together. This film proves that you do not need big budgets or action scenes to entertain people.
